How long does the typical system last?
As long as periodic maintenance is performed and the landscape the system was designed around doesn’t change the design will last indefinitely. The pipe and fittings on average last a minimum of 20 years, while the heads and valves have a life span of between 5-25 years depending on use and wear and tear.

Most residential jobs can be completed in one day, but larger properties can take 2 or more days. Before the “in-ground” work is done, a few hours are needed inside the house to make the plumbing connections and install the backflow preventer.

No, while it does happen on occasion it’s not a big concern. All the sprinkler heads we install in lawn areas full retract into the ground when not in use.

Autowater is the ONLY irrigation company in greater Boston owned and operated by a Master Plumber. Geoff has been installing and maintaining irrigation systems since his summers in high school and college 25 years ago. In the Spring of 1997 Geoff started Autowater and has installed and repaired thousands of local irrigation systems.
Since Autowater became a plumbing corporation in 2010 we are now able to install top quality sprinkler systems without the additional hassle involved with hiring an external plumber to make the plumbing connection and install the required backflow preventer on the house water supply. This saves customers time and no longer necessitates any additional scheduling. We permit and install this primary phase of the sprinkler system installation in-house. Our process is now more efficient and all of the work will be completed by our friendly, factory-trained professional staff.
